  • What can working with a Registered Dietitian do for me?
A dietitian from ETX Nutrition can tailor nutrition strategies to optimize your health, manage conditions, and achieve personal wellness goals.
  • Is there a difference between a nutritionist and Registered Dietitian Nutritionist?
There is a significant difference between nutritionists and Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN). If you're seeking help to improve your health or alter your eating habits, ensure that you work with a trained nutrition expert licensed to practice in your state. Nutritionists hold no licencure, require no continued education, and anyone can call themselves a nutritionist. Working with a dietitian ensures you receive the best professional nutrition advice tailored to your needs, distinguishing them from those who are not licensed or specialize in professional nutrition services.
  • What is your primary population you serve?
I primarily work with women's wellness (i.e. PCOS, pregnancy, gestational diabetes, breastfeeding, and postpartum), chronic kidney diease, infant and child nutrition, diabetes management, cardiovascular, sports nutrition and fitness, and general wellness.

  • How do I know if my insurance covers nutrition services?
Most insurance plans cover nutritional services provided by an RDN with most patients having to pay $0, which is a beneficial aspect when considering affordable dietitian services in East TX. If you'd like to use insurance for your visits, you can either check with your insurance provider directly by calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card or have our billing team verify how many nutrition visits your plan covers. Unfortunately, this information isn't as easily accessible to dietitian nutritionists as it is for doctors and dentists. To help you get the details you need about your benefits, here are some helpful questions to ask and write down: Do I have insurance coverage for nutrition counseling or medical nutrition therapy, CPT codes 97802 and 97803? Do I have coverage for preventative nutrition counseling? For code Z71.3? If no, which medical conditions are covered? Do I need a physician’s referral or prior authorization? Do I have a deductible to meet before insurance will pay? Do I have a co-pay? How many nutrition sessions do I get per year or per lifetime? Are telehealth visits covered? Please note you will be responsible for any co-pays and you will be billed for the remaining balance for deductibles, co-insurance or visit fees which may include the entire visit fee if your insurance does not cover the visit. For insurance plans outside of our network we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
  • What if I don't have insurance?
Many insurance plans cover Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) provided by an RDN, which is a beneficial aspect when considering affordable dietitian services in East TX. However, if you don't have insurance, the cost per session ranges anywhere from $35-$150 depending on length & type of appointment. For insurance plans outside of our network we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Lifestyle Nutrition Counseling packages available and eligible for payment plans.
